Our Beliefs

We listen, care, brainstorm, and iterate over, and over, and over again. Consistant curiosity and constant refinement is where we believe the gold is and how a killer product is made.

Abstraction

Communicating ideas or products is more interesting and sticky to the mind when it is dissected and abstracted.

Shared passion

Creating lasting and powerful visuals takes time and effort. We need to work with people as excited as we are to create something unique and inspiring.

I started Sandpile Studio to do things right.

My name is Joshua Myers, and Sandpile Studio was founded on the belief that great motion design and storytelling deserve the time, care, and craftsmanship needed to reach their full potential. As an art director and motion designer, I’ve seen firsthand how time, budgets, and energy are often mismanaged in creative projects—leading to half-baked results that fall short of what they could have been. I started Sandpile Studio to do things differently: to create high-quality, intentional work where every detail is thoughtfully considered, and no creative potential is left unrealized.

At Sandpile, the goal isn’t just to deliver projects—it’s to craft meaningful, visually striking experiences that truly resonate. Whether it’s designing cinematic 3D environments, mesmerizing looping animations, or immersive worlds that tell a story, every project is built with precision, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. Here, every frame matters, and every movement serves a purpose.

Pre-Production is king

Sure, the latest technology and techniques are necessary pursuits, but the story and ideas is what most of the time (and budget) are spent on.

R&D, R&D, R&D…

To mention it again, Research and Development is the core of what we do. It inspires, motivates, and constantly surprises us with roads it takes us down.

Don’t be hasty

Once we have an idea or visual that works or looks beautiful, we don’t stop there. Often the best ideas come when we set it aside and keep pushing.

Collaboration

There is no lone genius. The best stuff is made when people who care get together to work, inspire, and open themselves up for discovery.
